Corpius rocks! I would have never got the code working without him. The remote operation has made the DAC so much more convenient to use. Makes me feel powerful and in total control.... I'm gonna wear out a battery just playing with the remote. I anxiously await his shield so I can tidy up the LCD control wiring. |

Some new models in my warehouseEdit: dotted lines are hidden lines. I show them to illustrate the complexity of the models (even though at first glance they can seem simple). Edited by user Monday, October 29, 2012 9:02:14 PM(UTC)

Thanks. Yes I am trying to keep it "simple". Anyone who has designed and built anything minimalistic (interior) know the hassle. It`s a lot of precision required for it to work, so I am hoping that it will turn out well.

So far the screen is not up and running. It did not work straight out of the box so to speak. I will return to it when I have the time to do some troubleshooting. Atm the controller(s) are not completely ready to power it either, so I will need to power it from a seporate supply. It differs from normal LCD`s in a few ways: 1. No backlight connections (pin 15 and pin16 on a normal 20x4). 2. No contrast adjustment pin (pin 3). 3. Higher power consumption (aprox 250mA). So far I have not got any response from the display, so I believe it has to do with power and init mode somehow. Atm I have other display`s that are compatible, so for now this has been put aside for a later date or an "aha" moment. I don`t want to fiddle and ruin it by experimenting. Well... I just had an "Oh No!" moment instead of an "aha" moment. The case I was planning to use for my WaveIO is just a tiny little bit too small. The thing I forgot to take into account was the height of the heatsinks of the power supply. I can most probably use the case for some future project. A new (and larger) case is on its way. |

Can you remove the sink and use the case as HS (with an alu plate to transfer the heat to the case instead of the HS)?

I could do that, but it would still be a very tight fit. I'll go with the bigger case. I'm also on the GB list for the WaveIO's daughter board. This needs to fit in too along with a fully separated power supply for the daughter board. |

Ah ok. Finished the model now btw. Logo`s in place. Etc. The two logo`s are "see through" and backlit. Should be very nice ;) Edit: just started listening to the new AVCC. Quite nice. First impressions are good :) Edited by user Friday, November 23, 2012 12:46:18 AM(UTC)

I'm enjoying my AVCC upgrade too! I will have to do some testing but from earlier casemod projects (I am / was a computer geek...) I know that a frosted surface will light up nicely (not too bright as that would steal the focus from the display). The idea is basically to use the TPA kit`s shiny leds (that light up the inside of the case) and see if that is enough for the effect to work. If not, then I will have to add leds along the edges behind the black painted surface. gwikse attached the following image(s): Buffalo front panel2.jpg (131kb) downloaded 15 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. As for the display, well. I connected this just now. It looks very good. Far better than the normal green or blue displays. View angle is low compared to what I am hoping for from the VFD, but other than that, it`s very nice. Thank you for the recommendation Corpius :) gwikse attached the following image(s): Corpius recommended.jpg (220kb) downloaded 33 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. I'm going to spend this evening with some music, so no modelling or coding today new AVCC? I must have missed it. Is this the 2.1 version? Since when is this reg available? |

Looking at different methods to paint or cover the area that should block the light, and I think I may be on to something. I forgot about one thing that we talked about though, so I have to get back to it and create the openings for the additional buttons for the buttons only option. I love your idea of keeping those in the same area as the rotary encoder would cover, that realy makes it versatile :) I am not sure if you remember, but we were also talking a little about using the apple remote as a starting point. I will buy another remote to see if it is doable (I have seen a few guides on how to open it). I also noticed that the seller that has the display has the same display but with green backlight if anyone want to try to stick with the "TPA color scheme". http://www.ebay.com/itm/...&hash=item27af114959Oh and, btw I had an "aha" moment earlier, I may have figured out why I have struggled with the VFD; basic P.E.B.C.A.K. (Problem Exist Between Chair And Keyboard). But for now, back to the music :)
