Hi Back,

Did you double check the led's orientation? It is a bit fuzzy on the picture but it seems to be in wrong orientation!

Good luck,
Milton

the leds are correct.
if they where wrong they wouldn`t light up at all.

but anyway the leds are the list of my concern.
the problem is that there is no sound at the outputs.

i mentioned the led just because i suspect that the problem
is that it doesn`t lock the signal.

Sorry Back! I was looking at the MUTE led!

The best I can tell from the other 4 pictures that it seems like you installed the IC2 onto the Volumite. I believe a jumper is needed instead of the IC2 for the way you are supplying the power.

This may be the problem!

Good luck,
Milton

Hey, good catch. That may indeed be it, as the two vregs would be fighting each other, which would result in a sagging 3.3V VD.

the volumite is powered from the ic2 (only)

do you suggest i should power it from the psu directly?

When powered by the I2C connections, the Volumite should not have the voltage regulator (IC2) installed, as it will be trying to regulate a 3.3V supply to 3.3V. The IC2 position on the Volumite should instead have a jumper from pin 1 to pin 3.

anway i don`t think that`s the problem since i disconected the volumite as i told you at the email.
tomorrow i will try the dac alone to figure out if the problem is from the buffalo or legato.

What are your supply voltages?

Did you install the relay backward?

Yes you found your problem. The center section is the BAL/SE converter, it must be powered.

Yes it is, but I think your problem is more likely that your not powering the BAL/SE section.

I would not use only two, as you will be asymmetrically loading one. I would use either one or three.
