I would like to try Buffalo with some Rudolf Broertjes' SS I/V Gain Stage PCB's that I have lying around.
Will this work directly or will I have to add some filtering (where/how)?

You would need to adjust the I/V values to work with the current output of the Buffalo.

Thanks Brian,

I know that it is much to ask, and I understand if I won't get an answer, but is there anybody who could tell me specifically what to change on the SS I/V stage?
My electronic knowledge is limited to changing the gain.....

The circuit I would like to modify is described in the link below. I thought to use one board per channel).

You should just ask DIYParadise. I am sure they can help you out.

On a side note, the Counterpoint discrete I/V is now available.

Hi Brian

The idea mentioned else where with a Sabre24 and a Sabre32 section, have you considered that? I think it's a good idea.

I will be doing this. I just added the documents for the ES9008 Buffalo back to the page for now.

I kinda have the same enquiry, but just ahve a couple of questions:

1. I've seen the current output of the buffalo as 16mA - is this correct?
2. Is 221R ok as an IV resistor for the buffalo (ie it will still be in current mode)
3. The IV stage I'm thinking of trying is SE - can I just use out+ and GND to feed the alt. I/V stage?


Any help would be great....

The ES9008 is not a classical current output DAC.

You don't need an I/V resistor, and if you were going to use one it would be far better just to use the DAC as a voltage source, which it would be any way.
