Hi
I have attached my USB Receiver/Dac to my computer and I am getting an error message. The computer is running Windows 10 but I had the same issue with Windows 8.1. In the device manager I am seeing the following:
1. Device described as: Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)
2. The Devise status is: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

I would appreciate any ideas on how to address this.

Do you have another USB cable you can try? Sometimes a bad or too-long (2m+) cable will cause issues.

I can try to get one tested under Windows 10 just to confirm it works. I just upgraded my laptop.

Thanks. I tried another cable and got the same result. The cable is less than 2 metres long.

One other question. You have the SPDIF/I2S jumper installed?

I had to deal with this with a MiniDSP USBstreamer. If you go to MiniDSP website and look up the user manual for the USBStreamer it has a section on disabling Windows driver signing for Windows 8 and most likely 10.

That is because USB Streamer needs the XMOS Driver to function. The USB module does not need a custom driver and works out of the box.

I just tested a module with Windows 10 and it works without issue.

I think this was a bad/damaged chip.
