I'm working on 2.0 of the guide, but I'm still waiting for information on the BIIISE. I wouldn't hold my breath as it'll take me quite some time after I receive the information to bring it all together in a well written, uniform lay-out.

Your a champion for doing it & doing such a good job at it, it's a surprisingly hard thing to do well.

I'm dangerous with instructions, so without, things could get ugly.

Russ and Brian are very busy testing the firmware for the BIIISE. I don't think Brian will open the ordering page for more orders until he has shipped the first batch.

Sorry, there was a delay in the board delivery (to me). I sent emails to people who got pre-orders, but forgot to post about the general saves date. I planned to open up general sales on Friday (16-Nov), but need to push this out a few days, so I have time to pack up the kits.

To complicate the matter, Thursday and Friday of this week are the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US, and I will be offline from Wed-Sun, so I will not be able to ship regular orders until the following Monday (26-Nov).

I will therefore accept another batch of "pre-orders" on the web site that will begin shipping 26-Nov. I will then open general orders later that week.

As the B3SE only has one SPDIF input and I would like to have 2 or 3 SPDIF inputs, I need someway of switching between the inputs.

Does anyone know if there is a small suitable device available to do this?

As I will be controlling the DAC via an Arduino Mega I have the switching capability already on hand, if it is just as simple as installing a couple of relays I would greatly appreciate advice on what would be a suitable relay. I have read that SSR are not suitable for audio signals, but have no idea whether this is valid in all situations.

With the OTTO you can switch between two spdif sources. If you need more (up to 4) inputs you can use the CS8416 4:1 S/PDIF Receiver/MUX module

I was reading some articles about SSR's a few days ago. When they are off they're not completely open like EMR's are. Some small current will flow trough it. When closed some substantial resistance is present, but I don't know how much. I think that these two fact make them not suitable for audio signals

I was hoping to keep it small (couldn't find measurements on OTTO) but have 3 inputs probably, the 4 way mux is out of my price range. If I could cobble something together with a few suitable relays that would be good.

Obviously I don't want to cobble something together that affects the signal quality.

A couple of things. As Brian mentioned - a BUSS MUX is not an SSR, and the OTTO is not switching analog audio signals, but digital signals. this is exactly what these MUXs are designed to do, so it is the perfect part for the job. :)

OTTO-II is actually much better in many ways than the original OTTO.

Much better ? Have you done listening test. I am sure I can hear the sound is much better without the Otto II. That is even wth a seperate good supply.

How about I just use a latching signal relay like this one http://au.element14.com/...co-5v-latching/dp/910442

and then use 2 Mega pins, send 1 Hi & 1 Lo then reverse them to switch the latching relay.

That only gives me 2 SPDIF but it's simple, small & cheap.

Bad idea?
