Hello,
now a different (second) setup: MUX -> ASRC -> 2xOpus
Because the complete chain did lead to distortion and noise at the first trial, I tried to get the MUX -> Opus working. It works! Stereo and dual mono! But: If I set the OSR-Pin of the Opus "low" - according to the datasheet this means maxiumum oversampling (4x) in the DAC. If I feed the combo with 44.1 kHz spdif, nothing happens, absolute silence. If I set OSR to "medium" or "high", I hear music without any errors or noise.
If I understand the datasheet of the cs8416 correctly, it should be the other way round. As far as I see, the cs8416 does not any sample rate conversion. So 44.1kHz in, 44.1 kHz out. But Opus tells me a different story.
If I don't get the correct sampling rates, there is no chance of configurimg the ASRC correctly, as far as I see.
So does the cs8416 do any upsampling? Did I get anything wrong?
Thanks in advance
Flo

Wow, that was quick! Thank you Russ. Just tested it again, no sound from the Opus with OSR "low" - "medium and "high" work. Strange thing because my cpd puts out 44.1 for shure. Regards Flo

Thank you glt, this way I know that I am still cxapable of reading datasheets, at least :d/ I think that's the problem, I set it to 128*fs like recommended in the manual without thinking about it, was only thinking about the sampling frequency. Will check it when I'm back at home. I think that this could be related to the problem I had with the asrc. Regards Flo

Hi glt,
that has been my error - always the mistake, that 128*fs is higher than 256*fs... how could I remember when I need it?
By tha way, got the metronome working too. Almost the same... too stupid!
Best regards
Flo

I'm glad you sorted it out. Even though I'm using the BII, I'm still a fan of OPUS/WM8741 :-)

And from a first impression it sounds even better with the asrc, at least to my ears.
