Is it ok to power the Placid with a 6.3VAC (3A) secondary? Placid -> Buffalo II + Volumite. I have a spare 6.3V secondary (AN-1T150/tube buffer)and it would be nice if I could use it instead of buying an extra trafo just for the placid.

Is 6.3V the rated or actual voltage? Often the actual voltage will be higher than rated.

Try measuring it in circuit. If it's >7, it will probably work fine.
