Is it ok to power the Placid with a 6.3VAC (3A) secondary?
Placid -> Buffalo II + Volumite.
I have a spare 6.3V secondary (AN-1T150/tube buffer)and it would be nice if I could use it instead of buying an extra trafo just for the placid.

I'll quote Russ from a diyaudio thread: "It should be >=7V for 5V use. We sell a 9V transformer for it."

Is 6.3V the rated or actual voltage? Often the actual voltage will be higher than rated.

It's the rated voltage.

Try measuring it in circuit. If it's >7, it will probably work fine.
