Adjusting the pot has no effect. The volume is always at maximum.
Volumite-to-Opus connections are: VCC->VD GND->GND(Power) GND->GND(Controller) SDA->SDIN SCL->SCK
Switch settings: MODE->open Everything else is same as mannual's "Recommended Stereo Configuration".
I checked the connections with ohmeter and found no problem. The voltage across VCC and GND of ATTINY85 is about 3.3V.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I have the same issue. USB Receiver, Opus DAC and Volumite. Always max volume. Any tips on how to debug?

On the Opus, set all switches to open (center position) except for I2S, which is set to -. On the Volumite, for 96khz pull just PB3 to GND and for 192khz pull PB3 and PB1 to GND. Wire this way: Volumite SCL -> Opus MC Volumite SDA -> Opus MD Volumite GND -> Opus GND Edited by user Friday, March 5, 2010 1:24:36 PM(UTC)

By varios reasons, this has been on hold for a while.. But can you specify what MC and MD on Opus is? I don't see it, neither on the board or other places. Thanks

I have tried to add the Volumite to my OPUS with WM8740. The DAC plays fine when the jumpers are configured for hardware control. However with the Volumite controller wired up as shown above, and after checking and rechecking connections and voltages, all I hear is digital noise coming from the DAC outputs. When I reconfigure the jumpers for hardware control, the music returns.
Do I have a bad microcontroller?

There are two major versions of Opus Volumite code.
One for the WM8740 and one for the WM8741
Are you sure which do you have?

There isn't a label on it, so no I have no idea what's programmed into it. I'll just order another one.

Bought a Volumite to try with my Opus, but cant get it to work. connected this way: VCC->VD GND->GND(Power) GND->GND(Controller) SDA->SDIN SCL->SCK Also tried to connect Pb3 to ground as well as both pb3 and pb1 to ground Switches on Opus are open except for I2S which is set to right (-) I get no sound at all. The Opus is fed with a MUX. With no signal (input floating) i get a clean high continuous sound, but still no volume controle. I use the WM8741(stereo) and the firmware is also for WM8741(stereo)(as label indicated) The volumite itself is good as i tried with my Joshua Tree firmware chip. In Hardware mode (default as per manual) al works fine with the Joshua Tree. Could the controller chip have failed? Or am i missing something completely? could there be a fault on the Opus board? Which chip is on the Opus?
There are two firmware versions. One for WM8740 and one for WM8741.

I finally got to try Brian's suggestion and it works now. I set I2S switch to the left(-) and that did it. Thanks very much. To zonneveld, Set I2S to left, not right. "Volumite GND -> Power GND" is not necessary as long as you have "Volumite GND -> OPUS GND". Hope this helps. Edited by user Friday, June 11, 2010 3:38:32 AM(UTC)
