The target DAC is Buffalo32S (and its older 24bit brother).
So do I understand correctly that the jumper setting for input and output format are ignored in bypass mode i.e. making the board a very expensive 5-wire jumper?
No way of making the ASRC "simply" shifting format from RJ (or LJ) to I2S without doing any resampling? Maybe by putting both serial ports in slave mode?
I guess I will make it work first according to the ASRC manual with 24-bit 192 kHz I2S output and then experiment (and study......) from there on
Thanks,
Nic

In bypass mode the outputs are simply buffered yes. :)

No, no way of changing format with metronome without resampling.

OK - I finally got it working tapping both DSD and PCM from the Denon DVD 1920 to Buffalo using an Metronome/OTTO combo.
In the end I think it is the buffering activity of the ASRC that makes the difference. The tapping I did was OK and the BB DSD chip in 1920 seems to output vanilla I2S.
Before closing it up I would like to locate some internal powering for the ASRC and OTTO. Having removed the analog output stage from the 1920 I have 3.3V, 5V and 11V power lines available (of unknown rating...). I will try to use the 5V line for OTTO.

Question: will 11V be fine for the ASRC?

The last mile will be to get the OTTO to switch automatically in response to the insertion of a SACD....
I'm wondering if I can make the DSD signal itself trigger the switch in some wayThink

Thanks,

Nic

Having succesfully set up my S32 to receive s/pdif signal from the coax out of my player, I now want to tap the DSD and PCM signals. After reading this thread and studying the pictures posted by Nic, I'm still not sure how the connections are made. I'd be grateful if Nic or someone else will describe specifically how the slots of the terminal block in the S32/Otto and the pins of the source DAC are wired together.
