Hi guys, Will it be possible to share the secondaries of a single transformer between two Placid BPs? To be more specific, I'm planning to power my 32S using a single Placid for VD and two Placid BPs for the IVY IIs. Since I only have one 2x18V 50VA transformer for the I/V section I was hoping I could use terminal blocks:  ..to split the secondaries between the two Placids (aka have one of the transformer's secondaries power both +15V sections of the two BP supplies and the other secondary to power the -15V sections of the BPs). Is there something in the design of the BP Placids that would prevent this from working? Also (to hijack my own thread :p ) could you share with me the value of the Rs required to get fixed +-15V output? Edited by user Thursday, September 24, 2009 8:39:05 AM(UTC)

Yes you can use a single dual secondary transformer as you described for two Placid BP.
With the stock 2K feedback Resistor (R10 and R14) using 750R for R3 and R4 should get you fairly close to 15V. Each rail will be slightly different, this normal, and perfectly fine.
The reference voltage should be ~4V (mine is 4.05V)
So to calculate the output voltage the formula is Vout = VRef * (1 + (RF / RG))
Where RF is R10/14 and RG is R3/4.

Thanks a lot Russ! :) I'll buy some 732R and some 750R ones, as well as 8K ones for the 5V Placid. I suppose 1/4W resistors should be enough for this?
