I've got mine up and running in a test box, sans thump busters at the moment as I cannot figure out how they connect but...
Connected via TOSLINK to GND & D1, I presume it was the same as the previous Buffalo and indeed music comes forth. But the DAC seems to lose lock between tracks and the is a bit slow starting and hence you get an annoying miss of the first bit of the next song, it sort of jumps in half way through the first note or so. Hence the request for manual in case I need to set some dip switches which are all currently set to middle.

I am working on the manual now. It will be up very soon.
While you wait, the middle switch position is the optimal setting. It is possible that your source stops transmitting between songs. If you hit stop or pause, do you lose lock?

Thanks Brian, it's the old Mac Mini 96/324 problem again... Less clicks and stuff with the new DAC, which is why I missed it, setting back to 44/24 stops the problem, bit of a waste though, but a MacMini problem. I presume it is still OK to run the TOSLINK through D1 GND? Will the new manual have wiring for the Thump busters? Edited by user Friday, May 15, 2009 10:15:28 AM(UTC)

What is the plug/socket which connects the Volumite to the Buffalo32s as shown on the front page of this web site? I didn't get one with my Volumite and Buffalo32s and I will need to get one locally. You can just wire directly. That connector is two 2-pin connectors that I melted together. They are not part of the kit. Be sure to remove the onboard MCU when using the Volumite. Edited by user Friday, May 15, 2009 11:33:57 AM(UTC)

Leo, I've really not had chance to listen properly, I've just put it together and left it on play. Well actually even that isn't really true, it is just playing via the computer into nothing. I've got to do the Volumite this morning before I can listen to it properly (with power amps) and at some point build the Thump Busters, although at the moment I guess I can turn the DAC on first! Ok Thanks, no probs A package arrived today:d/ Its already up and running making sweet music only niggle as of yet is that its sensitive to items being plugged into the mains, when using the original Buffalo soon as something is plugged into mains the lock led would turn off then back on again and carry on working as normal, the Buffalo32 mute led lights up and has to be switched off and switched back on  So far it only does this if an item is plugged into the mains or the central heating switches on Edited by user Saturday, May 16, 2009 8:00:01 AM(UTC)

Mine's arrived & working for a few hours.
Have also noticed short interruptions to music when 'fridge turns on, or clothes washing machine does it's thing.
Don't have an oscilloscope, so difficult to see if I'm getting pulses on mains.
But I think that's what I'm getting.
May have to get a mains filter.
Russ, perhaps you could test by running your B32S off the same circuit as your beer fridge!

I have observed exactly the same thing, but it only happens rarely, with me it's a loss of lock sometimes (say one out of 5 times) with a ceiling fan I turn off and on. But I also observed that the same thing happens with the ESS demo board but slightly less often. I think its related to the clock. But I really don't know. One thing that does help a bit is using the higher DPLL setting. I have asked Dustin about this, and if I can find a way to completely solve it I will. Cheers! Russ Hi Russ, I don't currently have a Volumite and just use the Buffalo32 on its own, its being ran from SPDIF (75R BNC socket,short mini co-ax to spdif input ) All switches are set to middle position, I thought I'd leave these alone until I know which does what I've tried it with both a CDP and Squeezebox Duet Its only small niggle Leo

Is your Buff in a metal case (shielded)? I am wondering if this would help solve the problem.

Hi Brian,
Its not in an enclosure at the moment , I do have a 1U case which needs the holes cutting out in the back panel etc though.
The dac is currently bolted to a wood chopping board, I put a baking tin over it to try and help shield from RF:))
Soon as the case is ready I'll update to see if it helps, its really not a huge problem, just a small pain when your
listening to music and it decides to mute and has to be switched off and on to reset

The switching off and on part to get back to normal does not sound right. I have a polling routine in the controllers which should get things back to normal on its own, so I suspect something amiss there. Edited by user Sunday, May 17, 2009 6:13:47 AM(UTC)
