The easy way to tell if the polling interrupt routine is working is to take an LED with a 221-390R resistor in series. Put the anode end to 3.3V and the cathode end to SCL or SDA. It should light up (flicker) a couple times per second. If it is not, then the controller is not working correctly.

Thanks Russ, I just tried it (green led + 300R) and it seems to be flickering ok

The mute is not a huge problem, we'll see what happens once its in a case:)

BTW once both lock and mute led is on (after plugging something in) if I touch one of the Buffalo's grounds on one of those green sockets using the neg lead from my multimeter both leds will sometimes flash and the mute somtimes goes off and the lock stays on. It does not do this if I touch the sockets with the multimeter +v lead Think

All sockets are soldered ok
