So, a lot has been happening, but I haven't been able to post much here. First, the 10 OPUS betas have gone out and are being assembled now. We should have some results/feedback soon, but things look (and sound) good. Russ has made some layout changes, some small, some significant. More news to follow soon. Second, and a minor note... We have changed our standard kit bypass caps from the red 100nF to a new AVX stacked film cap (yellow) and the standard value will now be 220nF, which should suite a broader set of circumstances. This change will affect the RevC, Kookaburra, and Joshua Tree kits, and probably a few more in the future. And finally, we have prototype boards for the TXO. Here are a few pics of a TXO channel under construction. The main parts are the TXD driver board, which is designed around the THS4131 symmetric differential op amp and the new LM4562 opamp, and can be configured to be a standalone symmetric preamp/line driver, or a symmetric power amp driver, as it is here... ...and the TPM-LM3886 power amp module, which can be used as a standalone Single-ended Gain Clone amp or used in pairs (2, 4, 6 etc) with a TXD for a symmetric-balanced bridged, bridged/parallel, or bridged/multiple-parallel arrangement. Each module can be configured with a servo (as is here) or simple feedback cap, and has an optional Zobel. The TXO kit will come with 2 - TXD (Twisted X Driver) boards, 4 - TPM-LM3886 (Twisted Power Module) boards, 2 - HCPS (High Current Power Supply) boards (not pictured), and 2 - LCPS (Low Current Power Supply) boards (same as Opus PS). Pricing is not yet finalized. Additional TPM kits can be easily added to up the insanity of your power amp. That's all for now. More news should be following in the next week or so.
