hello have been playing on the 32 for months now and I have been very pleased taken spdif out from my asus motherboard to spdif and gnd inputs suddenly when I sat down to play it will not lock to signal from pc worked just fine 2 days ago since I changed psu in pc I thought it was something wrong with pc but I cannot make it lock to my denon dvd 1930 spdif out either have rocked the dip-switches back and forth and powered down and up again several times but the mute led won´t let go is this the time when we need the reset header ?  best Leif Norway Edited by user Wednesday, November 4, 2009 3:49:07 PM(UTC)

It sounds as if the SPDIF comparator and/or input section may have been damaged. This could have been from over-voltage or ESD.

all voltages within tight specs can I try to connect the spdif to D1 and Gnd instead (do I really need the comparator?) if dc leakage from pc nuked the spdif input; any suggetions for a suitable digital isolation transformer to get a galvanic separation and avoid the problem in the future? best Leif Edited by user Thursday, November 5, 2009 4:10:41 AM(UTC)

It should be ok to connect the SPDIF from the Mobo to D1 as long as the SPDIF level is TTL. If its more than 5V you will kill the input. I would add a series resistor just to be safe until you are certain. If you go direct to D1 you need to be sure to open the SPDIF switch to get the comparator out of he loop. You could use the same pulse transformer we use with our CS8416 MUX. Or you could even just use the MUX. :) Cheers! Russ Edited by user Thursday, November 5, 2009 4:00:50 PM(UTC)

hello
tried the D1 and gnd for the spdif with spdif sw to off and the rest remained in middle pos. and still no lock!
so I guess the chip is nuked then?
I´m sure as hell gonna get a digital transformer on the input!
what next?
