Hey, One of my Counterpoint boards is producing a constant (and intolerable) "white noise" sound. The other board is silent. Both boards produce music. When I press the top of capacitor C4 the noise increases in level. I reflowed all of the solder joints and replaced the capacitor to no avail. Any idea what the problem is and how I can fix it? I'm going to rotate the Counterpoint boards such that the inputs are adjacent to the Buffalo outputs. Hopefully shortening the wires significantly will squelch the noise. What's a few more holes in the bottom of the chassis? Edited by user Friday, August 28, 2009 11:27:48 AM(UTC)

Sometimes just adjusting the rails voltages a bit can make that kind of noise go away. The CFPs are high gain and can be finicky.

shorten the leads from buf to counters as much as possible.
I guess you are not going symmetrical.
If so, and if let's say you are using out+ then try getting a short piece of cable (10 or so cm) from out- on each counter and wrap it around the cable from out+.
Or just fix it in the bottom of your box. Just fix it, not solder.
Also the orientation and paths of cables IS critical.
But you can make it quiet, eventually.
