I have just received my buffalo32 board with the PSU's and an additional toslink module.

DIP switches are set up as they come to me.

Everything is built to specs and when I power on the board but every 20 seconds the led that shows the lock starts blinking for 17 times, cutting the sound (it goes on and off), and then the whole process starts again: music for 20 seconds and led blinking..etc etc

Can anybody help trying to find the problem ? . I would appreciate it very much.

Pepe

Update 1 - August 27th
My configuration is feeding the DAC with an airport express, plastic Toslink cable. I found out that lowering switches 1 and 2 to "-", that DAC locks at 16/44.1 well and does not stop playing. I tried also other combinations with those switches (1 and 2) and the problem remains: lock/unlock light flashing and music goes on and off.

It sounds like you have found your own answer.

The problem is your source has extreme jitter and the DPLL bandwidth has to be raised to accommodate it.

I am sorry I don't have better news.

Cheers!

Hi Russ, thank you a lot for your answer !!.

sorry about my ignorance, but what does "DPLL bandwidth" mean and what would be the effect (anyhow) of rising it ?. I found out the solution myself, as you mention, but I was completely ignorant neither of the problem nor the solution.

I can understand that my source (an airport express) has lots of jitter ... does the buffalo reclock the signal at all ? (I am just hunger of knowing more about how buffalo works...).

Best regards,
Pepe
