Have you consider for JT3 soldering the input /output connecters to the board eliminating messy wiring. It would be cleaner mounting the whole thing on the back panel. Granted you would need seperate boards for single ended and balanced. Also dropping the rectifier / regulator off the driver board. When you build a pre amp with an outboard power supply you don't have to run 12v ac into the case (had an issue with hum) and they could share 1 rectified power supply.

1) Have considered it, can only answer maybe. The problem is people tend to favor flexibility.
2) No need to run AC. You can run DC into the rectifier, or even leave off the rectifier. You can use just one supply right now if you like. :)
