I am planning to connect an external transport to the new Buffalo32 DAC via I2S input.
The transport has a TTL level(5v) I2S output with DIN connector. Is 5v TTL level I2S output safe for buffalo32?

I honestly don't know, but none of those pins are marked as 5V tolerant on the datasheet. I don't feel like ruining a ship to find out. So personally I would not try it. Use a level shifter.

OK I have some good news. I have been told that the I2S input of the ES9008/ES9018 are 5V tolerant but that you should use a current limiting resistor of ~1K in series with each signal.

Cheers!
