I'm looking at buying the Buffalo32 DAC but need some clarification on how the volume control will work on my setup.

I understand that the Buffalo32 can use digital volume control due to its 32 bit data paths and it should sound good as there are plenty of bits to spare to "waste" on volume attenuation (at least 10 bits in realistic listening scenarios). As I have a multichannel setup (a pro audio card with analog outputs for surrounds & SPDIF output for R+L), I want to attenuate the centre, subwoofer + 2 surround channels at the same time tracking to the buffalo32 volume. I see the volumite board allows you to control volume on the Buffalo32, however what options do I have for analog volume control of the other channels (even if tracking with the buffalo32 is not perfect)?

Also, is it possible for the Buffalo32 to be clocked from an external source (eg. from a pro-audio word-clock signal)?
