Hi,
I'm hoping to get a Buffalo 32S as soon as it's available. I'm doubting whether to use a Volumite or a Josuha Tree to control volume. I'm planning to use the Buffalo single ended into an integrated amp for now, but in the near future go straight into two monoblocks (old Sonys first, balanced amps later).
What would give me the absolute best quality volume control?

Honestly, either is a great choice. The JT2 having the advantage that while attenuating it is attenuating both noise and signal. The Volumite only attenuates the signal. The Net result is that at anything less than maximum listening levels the JT2 will have lower noise. The trade off is output impedance. But since you are driving power amps as long as they have an input impedance >= 10K you will be in great shape.

Cheers!
Russ

OK, thank you for the info Russ :-)
I prefer keeping signal paths as short as possible, so I think I will try the Volumite first and add a Joshua Tree later if I'm not happy with noise levels.
Am I right in thinking that if I'm going to be using the JT in combination with a power amp it might be better to have the JT in the power amp instead of the Buffalo, so the signals going through the interlinks would be as high as possible and any noise introduced there would be lower in comparison?
