Hi,
Has anyone tried powering the kookaburra with a 12VDC smps wallwart - and how were the results compared to a standard PSU? Any feedback would be very much appreciated.

It would need to be +/-12VDC then you would need to omit the 7812 and 7912 VREGs.

Or +/-15VDC and leave on-board VREGs.

You need dual supplies. So for AC you need at least 24VCT or dual 12V secondaries.

Cheers!
Russ

Thanks Russ! Reason for the inquiry was this: I would like to be able to build Kook
such that it would be failsafe usable in 110-220V environments - no switches to
(wrongly) select voltage. I thought SMPS might be one route. Any enlightening suggestions to
make Kook international plug and playable while preserving sound quality are very
welcome.

You should a power supply from a DVD player. Most have +/-12volt,5volt and 2 ground. I have two supplies from broken players.
