Hi,

I put togehter my Buffalo/Ivy combo in the last couple of days, everything worked perfect and I was enjoying the smooth sound. Then I wanted to do measurements and hooked up the balanced outputs to some recording gear.

Everything worked just fine until I switched a cable and inadvertently hit the phantom power button. Silence ...

Any ideas what I need to replace at this point? Just the IVY or will this kill the Buffalo as well?

Cheers

Thomas

P.S.: If I have to replace the IVY would it be possible to make a kit that has the 392Ohm, 4KOhm, and 4.6uf caps for the proper levels on the balanced/single ended outputs.

Well here is how you can know.

Totally disconnect the IVY(from its PS too). Leave the Buffalo wired to PS and source.

Get yourself a couple film caps (1-2uf will be fine, higher is ok) and put the in series with the + outputs from both sides of the buffalo.

If you get music from the output using the caps then the buffalo is probably just fine (pheeeew) and you probably just need a new IVY.

The PS is current limited, so its probably OK I would guess.

Let me know what you find.

Pheeeew, the outputs from the Buffalo still seem to be intact.

Now here comes the magic question. How will the Counterpoint compare to the IVY and when will it be available. Will it measure as good?

I am also waiting for the new Joshua Tree and an AC1 with remote control option so I am not in an extreme hurry.

Cheers

Well that's good news. :)

Counterpoint underwent a bit of a redesign to get it whipped into shape.

I have yet to test the new version so I will withhold judgment. :)

Okay, I went ahead and ordered a replacement for the YVI. I can always upgrade later.

Thanks for the quick responses
