I know you guys are supposed to be on n vacation and I hope you have a happy holiday. I am in the process of building my Buffalo/IVY combo I recently received (thanks for the quick shipping!!!)
The two power supplies went together fine and voltages check out. I really like the way you package the parts, it makes assembly go very smooth. When I got to the IVY I have some confusion with parts supplied or maybe missing. From my reading of the forum I believe the favored build is the Buffalo l config. Well I did not get C1-C4 10nf caps called for. I did get C13-C16 which should be omitted according to the manual I also got R17-R20 that are the Jumpers 0 ohms as what should have been 21 ohm according to the manual. Did I miss something
Also I am retuning a Toslink kit. You sent me two of them

The manual needs to be updated. You should go ahead and use C13-C16 and the jumpers.
Thanks for returning the extra kit!
Cheers! Russ

Thanks for the quick reply
I will be able to finish the build this coming weekend and a first listen on Sunday afternoon after some burn in time.
What would be a good test load for the power supplies. They have held a steady no load voltage for a couple of days now but would like to put them on load with out the Buffalo or IVY
The extra toslink kit will be the mail on Satuerday

I apparently left C1-C4 out of your kit. Sending.

Hi Russ, I have R17-20 and R5-8 jumpers. Is it correct? What is filter frequency in the new configuration? Thank you, Vassili

Correct on the jumpers. The Fc is almost the same, just the Q is different. :) Edited by user Friday, December 26, 2008 3:25:18 PM(UTC)

I hope you had a great Christmas with friends and family. I received the caps yesterday, thanks for the quick service. I put the toslink in 1st class on friday back to you. Caps installed hooked up the PS said a prayer, flipped the switch, auto mute light came on, and no smoke, rechecked voltages. Let it cook over night, rechecked the voltages first thing this morning, moved it over to the system, hooked up my source through SPDIF and the lock light came on and the music came on!!! Sounds great, hoping for some mellowing with burn-in, but very clear and clean, makes my MF XDAC sound like a muddy toy. I found building this a bit of a challenge because I am just not use to such small PCB's to work with. These 63 year old fingers just do not move like they use to. You made it workable because of the great labeling of parts and PCB. I put the PS's in a separate box and made a cable with seven strands or 14ga wire shielding from a stripped RG8 coax covered with texflex, a bit stiff but doable. Now to come up with case work suitable for this great sounding DAC. I will probably add MUX because I have two SPDIF sources and will give the Placid a try when its available. Happy listening, I am. Paul
