Does anyone know if bypassing the Kmixer in windows XP, with a kernel streaming plug in (foobar)would benefit sound quality as suggested by some people when using USB dac. This would give a bit perfect output.

If you believe the boards, even changing the compiler switches when you compile some code that does nothing to the data stream will change the sound. But practically, you should read this: http://code.google.com/p...drivers/wiki/Bitperfect.PS: I did some web audio tests on my hearing and my ear dynamic range is only 50db (at a fairly high 0 db volume, I can't hear -50 db sounds), on the frequency scale, I can't hear pass 15KHz and I can barely hear 3db differences in sound (more increases and decreases).

I am very sceptic to silver cables and other exotic things some audioenthousiasts come up with, but according to the link you sent me bypassing Kmixer when using Foobar could make things easier and maybe even better and since it doesnt cost anything and wont cause any harm either its worth the try i guess.
