Hello

A few years ago I installed the Opus WM8804 Module into a Pioneer DV-575A player to transmitt 24bit 88.2kHz when playing SACD.
I have noticed that the best sounding discs in my collection are all dsd untouched by PCM (ie Channel Classics) so I decided to try transmitting dsd to save the conversion. I switched the DAC to receive dsd but got nothing.

Next I tried transmitting the PCM straight from the DVD player to see what happens. It plays music but distorts badly on peaks.

Does this sound like an incompatibility between levels? If so, is there anything I can do about it? Or have I missed something?

Thanks for your reply

Most likely a wiring issue (long runs?). Can you post a picture?

I made the cable myself. It's 4 cores of 1m long ptfe insulated silver plated copper with 2 layers of aluminium foil earth to the DAC enclosure to keep it separate from the OV. Have I tried to be a bit too clever here? What cable would you recommend? USB 3.0?

This is exactly what the Teleporters were designed for. They make the signals differential, which are nose cancelling and better for long runs.

If you can, try using very short wires (10-15cm max) to verify you have the correct signals.
