I am looking to wire my IVY 3 to balanced XLR outputs but also drive balanced headphones. I have got a pair of Neutrik Combo jacks for the front panel for the balanced headphones, however I am not sure if I should wire these to the balanced outputs on the IVY or connect these to the input side of the balanced output resistors? I saw the attached diagram in an earlier post. Would I connect the wires for the 2 headphone jacks as follows: + to input side of R27/R30 - to input side of R28/R29 GND to BAL GND output terminal I have mounted the outputs resistors, would it be best to wire the headphones in parallel to the output terminal or as above, and would this provide any benefit? You are correct. This is from the manual: Quote:Driving Headphones
The IVY-III can easily drive most headphones (even down to 16Ω) when used as a balanced headphone driver along with the Volumite or similar digital volume control. The SE outputs are not capable of as much power, but can still be used for most headphones. It is recommended that if you wish to drive headphones you use jumpers for R25/R26 and/or R27 R30, which will allow for better damping factor. The OPA1632 can drive up to 150mA, giving you plenty of power for almost any headphone listening situation. It is recommended when driving power amps to always use the output resistors, especially with very capacitive cables. If you are driving both, connect headphones to the outputs ahead of the resistors, and high-impedance loads (amplifiers, etc) after them. Edited by user Friday, September 22, 2017 1:18:00 PM(UTC)

Daft question, but is there any particular way you would recommend going about connecting the wires up to the resistor pad? Presumably its just a case of using a fair bit of solder to connect them as best as possible, or connecting them to the underside?

Basically that, yes. Whichever way you find easier, though utilizing the resistor lead + pad on the top will probably give a better purchase for the solder joint.
