So who else is using Trident SR regs for the AVCC? I am trying it now and liking what I am hearing. I am a bit surprised that TPA has not made a 3.6 VDC dual module for AVCC use. Perhaps all development time is going to ESS 9038 PRO project stuff...
Maybe onboard AD 715x regs for that DAC...

We have thought about a 3.6V version, but it is further down the list of "things to do."

Two Trident SRs in place of the AVCC works really well, so the need is not as great.

We will have some big news in the coming days with regards to the ES9028/38.

Another note: remember to kep your Buffalo input voltage below 5.5V with the SRs. We recommend 5V when using them.

What is the mod to get 3.6 volts out of a Trident SR?

TPA uses the fixed output version of the AD 715x regulator on the current Trident SR, so it cannot be modded to alternate voltages. For 3.6 VDC they would need to use the adjustable version of the AD 715x.

Looking forward to 9038 Buffalo PRO and I/V stage news, with bated breath!

So 2 3.3 volt SRs can replace the 3.6 volt AVCC?

BTW, I replaced the OE ceramic caps: C3-4 with 1µF PML film caps on the AVCC Trident SRs (Vref and Bypass) mostly out of curiosity, based on my experience that film caps almost always sound better on analog supply circuits. I was not really expecting to hear a difference, but, unless I am projecting, this made a nice improvement.
Nothing wrong with the way they were... it seems that the AVCC pins of the ESS chip are very sensitive to supply quality.
