Russ, Do you know if buffalo work with a direct AES connection, provided that the signal levels are properly transformed to SPDIF specifications, in accordance with the AES recommendations? I understand that mostly, SPIDF and AES formats are the same, except for a few flags which may have different meanings, and that some implementations of SPDIF can handle the differences.
I want to interface from a pro audio sound card to the DAC.

Just route the signal to D1, switch the S/PDIF switch off, but leave switch 1 set to S/PDIF. This will allow you to supply TTL level S/PDIF directly.

For AES, the safest approach is to use a voltage divider. Yes it will work. At least it did for me using an Apogee source. :) If you use D1 be sure to use a cap in series with D1. Edited by user Wednesday, November 5, 2008 2:10:19 PM(UTC)
