Unfortunately, today I have experienced my 2nd issue with an inexplicable Buffalo DAC issue -

A dead short on the D1 and D2 digital inputs on a brand new B3 build

I soldered in the input DuPont header and bridging resistors, but that's it. I checked the work as a precaution after the failure of my Father's BIIISE build (he gave up due to a total lack of support from TP and bought a Benchmark DAC instead. It doesn't sound as good as a fully functioning dual mono Buffalo DAC - but far better than one that only works on one channel)

I have removed the input header pins on the slim chance that they could be responsible for the short.

They weren't. The short can only be on the BIII board. I inspected it with a microscope but no visible external short. Must be internal.

God only knows how it passed 'testing'

I am not sure how it was damages either. I can assure you it did pass testing (by my) before it shipped.

I will contact you via PM.

Also, somehow I totally missed your post about your Dad's DAC. I will reply on that thread.

Thanks for replying Brian.

There's no visible damage so it beats the hell outta me too. I've built a dozen Buffalos of various flavours and they've all worked flawlessly until these last two.

Look forward to receiving your PM
