Tried that with Audirvana.... sound comes out distorted and with a lot of noise. Sounds ok up to 192 upsampling. Now, this is for ripped cd's in my Mac's drive. So what would have to be done? I kind of gathered that the current in the Placid HD has to be increased? Is this so? Thanks.

That is likely the cause. The DAC draws more current at higher bit-rates.

So, are there any recommendations for this? I guess this dac is being used for that by users in this forum. Would that apply to DSD also?

Try increasing the shunt current on the Placid. That usually fixes the problem, if that is in fact the problem. Try making some measurements to find out for sure.

Hello: Pursuant to the topic at hand I increased the source current to around 685 ma and the shunt is 120 ma. The 384 kHz upsampling is less warbled with each increase of source current. I do not know what the limits of the HD and dac boards are for current, so I am afraid to increase this more..... I wonder if this might be due to an incompatibility with my JLSounds USB board. It play without a hitch up to 192 kHz upsampling even at lower a current.

So, do I keep raising the current until it plays the 384khz frequency? I am doing all this considering DSD playback which is at high frequencies.
Thanks gentlemen
