I2S and SPDIF inputs exhibits different output level

Hello everybody. I discovered a strange issue with my Buffalo II Till now (for almost one year) I used only the USB input & Amanero. I had for free a Teradac USB converter. It has a USB input and 3 SPDIF outputs, BNC, RCA and optic. So I tried the SPDIF inputs of mu Buff II. I fit the PC USB output to the Teradac instead to go directly to the BuffII. And from Teradac I entered to the BuffII in SPDIF format. Playing on the PC the same track, when I switch the BuffII from the digital source I2S to S/PDIF, the analog output level drops of about 30%. There is nothing wrong with sound, the output level changes if I "enter" to the BuffII by SPDIF or by USB. I read about some opposite experiments: when switch from I2S to SPDIF to the output level rises of 50%. Where is the trouble? Any suggestion.

I am 99% sure this is an output level setting on your PC (specifically for the S/PDIF output).
Check the device properties to see if it has a configurable output level. It will be where you select output bitrate.
