DAC Building tips. Soldering the PCBs. First, before you get started it is actually helpful to attach the standoffs as it will keep the bottom components off the work table, it sill also give some heat isolation. Next (if they were not pre-soldered) solder the top side SMD ICs. The order is not particularly important, but here is the order I did them. 1.DAC. 2.Receiver. 3.VREGs 4.Voltage monitor. 5.Inverter(if you choose to use it, I would omit it on the beta). Now Solder the SMD ferrite's on the bottom side, these are the only parts that go on the bottom side. Now solder the SMD caps. Then do the rest of the components from smallest to tallest. Now for setting the jumpers, Here is a good place to start: All jumpers low (the side with the dot is high) except JD1 and JD5. The DAC has on board VREGS and they are low dropout. I used the following voltages in: Analog supply 7.5V. Digital supply 5V. So adjust one side of the LCPS(DAC PS) to 5V and mark it (a sharpy “D” on a terminal block or something) so you know which is which for wiring later. Then adjust the other to 7.5V or so (exact value not critical). Wire it up and listen to some music. :) Edited by user Wednesday, December 30, 2009 10:04:04 PM(UTC)

For the Beta kits, all SMT parts will be pre-mounted, unless you request otherwise. All DAC chips will definately be premounted, as they are super small.
