My current system was built around the fact that I have for years experimented with all manner of volume controls with various DACs, and hated them all ,from Vishay ladders to silver wired TVC. As when I removed them, the sound was so much better ( though too loud obviously ). When Russ came out with the Buffalo 32 and the Volumite it seemed a match made in heaven, and so it has proved. Now i want to go back in time and start using my records again. Anyone got some advice on how to keep my existing layout but somehow integrate a Retro into the input. The old Buffalo 32 drives self powered subs in SE and my M60 OTLs into Bastanis in Bal and i want to keep the digital Volumite. So - wierd it may be but after the Retro maybe I do A/D then run this thru Otto as I2S or SpDif into the Buffalo. Currently I have a CDPro2 running I2S into Metronome. A/D kits are available, and depending on the output maybe this needs to go into the Metronome via Otto as well. Any ideas. cheers Wayne New Zealand

Well, you could certainly feed an A/D then process the I2S.
The issue then becomes, will you be happy with the sound of the input stage of the A/D and the A/D itself? Only one way to find out I guess.
