Hi, I'm a dj with two cdjs, and I plan to build two Buffalo-IIIse DACs, each with Legato I/V stages, one for each cdj. I'm planning to house the two DACs together in a 2u chassis and I'm wondering if I will need a mains connection for each, or is it possible to design the unit in such a way as to have just the one a/c power connection? Reason I ask is that I have an Isonoe discrete linear-regulated power supply and I'd like to know if I could use it to power both DACs. The power supply has two outputs, one of which is used to power an Isonoe eq. Could I use the spare output to power both my DACs? It'll power most items that run on +/- 18v rails. An 18V PSU is not a good choice for powering the boards. I would suggest using the LCDPS for powering 2 DAC boards if you want to keep things simple. A single HP BP will propably provide enough output for 2 Legato I/V stages. And yes, as long as you don't overload the IEC you can use a single connector for power input.
Note: please read the guide before proceeding.

Notice: Placing two sets of Buffalo + Trident regulators + Legato and power supplies for this all in the single case might require either active cooling or well though placement, because generated heat will not be insignificant. Edited by user Thursday, November 20, 2014 7:29:05 AM(UTC)

If you are using a LCDPS, you will not have extreme heat issues. Passive cooling with a vented case will be sufficient.

Ahh that's good to know. Will it be ok in a rack with other stuff that gets a bit warm...?
