Installation problem: Scratchy noise when playing

Hi folks.
I'd appreciate some advice.
I today installed the DAC.
I am feeding the DAC 16bit/44.1 I2S. As PS I take 2* 7,4V NiMh RacePack Batteries.
I am running directly out into the amp without IVY. ( + and G connected)
This all should be OK according to the other threads I opened earlier.
The DAC seems to lock -- at least the lock-LED is on.
The DAC starts playing music but I hear constant scratchy noise in between, sounds like typical XRUNS.
What am I doing wrong here?
THX
PS:
Some small advise related to the documentation:
The dip switch explanation could be a bit more specific. Default (as I received it) is actually Off and not + as described. As far as I understood at DIY-Audio. Switch 3 should be - . Why not making this the default value.
THX a lot

Hi folks.
I got it going. I ran into 64FS problem on the I2S bus. Now I am using my DDDAC-PCM2707 receiver.
I experienced some strange hickups in the first 10 minutes of playing. After a while this disappeared. !?!?
Anyhow sound is good but not overwhelming yet. I wonder if the DAC needs some time to break-in?
Two questions:
How about decoupling the I2S input ??? I read that Russ recommended it for D1 input and SPDIF if I recall it correctly? Do I have to put some 10R or similar in the lines?
How about filtering the analog out? I read that you guys introduced a filter on IVY to get rid of some HF junk produced by the Sabre? How would that have to look like if I ran directly from Sabre to Amp?
THX
