Hi,
I have the first gen of buffalo DAC with IVY III.
Can IVY III balanced output drive power amp directly without preamp.

Greetings Jose. Standard IVY III build has 2v output so yes it can drive an amp connected directly provided you have some volume control. Does the Gen 1 Buffalo have volume control or does your amp have gain control? Otherwise it could be real loud with max output. ;) |

Thanks... Rich. I have the Volumite Controller for my gen 1 buffalo, so I can control the volume from there.

The IVY-III can even power headphones directly.
