Hi! I'd like to try to build my own desktop DAC, and the Buffalo-IIIse seems to be a very nice board to start with. My primary source will be a computer, so I'll be using an Amanero USB-to-I2S card that's already on its way here. I would like to use the DAC to drive my Audeze LCD-2's through my PPA headphone amp I have previously built, but here I'm not sure how to proceed... Do I need an I/V Stage for this? I'm not 100% sure here, but the I/V stage is basically an amp, right? If so, then I could just hook my amp directly to the BIII output signal? Sorry for these nooob questions, but this is my first step into digital electronics, so I thought I'd better ask and make a fool out of myself than buy/connect the wrong parts and destroy something while trying As a side note - if I would like to add an SPDIF input as well as the USB input, what would I need for this?

An I/V stage is recommended. The ESS9018 can be used without it, but performance will suffer.
You need a switch to switch between the 2 signals. BTW Both answers are given in the guide. It may be a good idea to read it before ordering parts.

Thanks for the answer! I did read the guide, but I still wasn't sure what I needed... guess I have to read it a couple of times more to understand it all
