For 3 years I used only transformers on the output of my Buffalo2. It sounded OK, but not enough gain, not enough bass and a thin tone. I discovered this by swapping in my old Buffalo32 which sounded much better. I bought Legato v1.0.3 with my Buffalo2 in March 2010 and am building Legato now. I found the manual for Legato v1.0.2 in the documents section of the forum. I am assuming that the 1.0.2 manual also applies to the 1.0.3 Legato.

The manual says, "There is also an optional buffer which is made up of 4 discrete single-ended Class-A buffers. With the stock parts it is only recommended to use the buffers if your load is less than 4K." In the Legato3 you recommend leaving installing the buffers anyway. So I'll probably try it both ways.

The manual says:
"Omitting the output buffer: Omit: QN7-QN14, R25-R28. Then you need to place a jumper between the pad marked with a line at QN8,QN10,QN12,QN13."

I see the X printed on all the buffer parts to be omitted. I see an extra line printed near the top pads of these 4 devices. It looks like the line is saying "jump the top pad to the middle pad."

Does this picture show how the jumpers (red lines) should be installed?
