Hi Russ/Brian/All!

I use my Ventus for balanced to singled ended conversion of my IVY balanced output.

I would like to adjust the gain of Ventus to a level where minimal digital volume adjustment needed at the Buffalo (ES9018). My primary headphones are Audio-Technica W1000X but I also used a Sennheiser HD595. Based on my tests I assume that approximately a gain value around 0,3-0,5 would be appropriate. According to the Ventus manual the needed gain can be adjusted with the recommended resistor values (1K<R<10K) providing the needed ratio between R4/R2 and R5/R3.

I have some concerns about using such a low gain because I don't want to compromise the Ventus's performance. On the other hand it is obvious that putting any resistors at the Ventus output side is not an option because it would seriously degrade the quality/performance.

What do You think about the planned gain, is it acceptable? If not, do You have any other suggestion?

Thanks in advance for Your advice,

Best Regards,

Iragam

There should not be any issues using the low gain. :) Fear not.
