Hi,
This weekend I compared Legato 3.1 vs IVY on my BuffaloIII DAC.

In my experience, IVY High frequency (tweeters) are much louder than my Legato 3.1

I Like Legato detail but I think it lacks Highs...

1) Is this normal, or should I think that there is an issue with my Legato board?

Best,
Carlos

Are you using the balanced or SE outputs? Or both?

You can reduce or omit C1-C4. But the Corner frequency is already very high.

Thanks.
I will try to remove those and see what happens.

With such low values, could it be possible I have a roll-off efect by cables or something?
Or could transistors or caps be out of spec?
I can publish photos and have a scope so can do mesurements if requiered.

Best

I removed C1 to C4 from Legato, I didn-t noticed any change in sound.

I conclude that Legato highs are rolled off, compared to IVY stage, and that is what gives Legato a more subtle character, since mids shows more present, due to the lack of highs... I am sure this is what gives IVY its more punchy character.

There is nothing (no filter) to roll off the highs, in fact most people would say it is quite flat in terms of response. :)

IVY actually has a more aggressive low pass filter than Legato. :)

You may actually have some impedance mismatch - or something attenuating downstream.

Thanks Russ.
I will try to measure, to figure out what the heck is going on here.

Check the values of the filter caps on your IVY. A handful of kits went out with the values mixed up, but I am fairly sure I caught all of them at this point. (C1-C4 should be 15nF, not 0.1uF.)
