Yes off is the same as open. The principle of open is important in this case because you have to think of it as a circuit. If the circuit is closed at the DIP it cannot be controlled down steam by the rotary switch.

I understand, it's hard to pull things to ground and let them remain high at the same time. The guide stated the switches should be OFF for control through EXT_IO. Telling people it should be "open" instead confuses people (well me at least). I've just uploaded a slightly modified guide, which should make things a little clearer.

Hi Russ & Brian.
I've been doing some testing with three double mono DACs and have found that there is something wrong in the firmware that doesn't allow playing higher than DSD128 or 192KHz PCM. All those 3 DACs play such material perfectly fine when I use an Arduino micro controller with HIFIDuino's code. There seems to be some bandwidth constriction with the firmware that cannot handle the higher sampling rates.
Could you please check this issue?

I am playing 384Khz material with that firmware right now... so I am not sure what you mean. There is nothing about the firmware that would prevent that. You may need to set the DIP switches correctly for your application.

Russ, would that be using two Buffalos in mono or a single Buffalo in stereo? the problem I'm reporting only happens in when the Buffalo is set to mono not to stereo.

Would not matter - they are treated the same between PCM and DSD.

Russ, I have tested (again) with everything in its default setting with the exception of #3 in SW2 (for mono setting) and after that I tried changing input remapping. Also I tested switches 5-8 of SW1 in OFF. I supposedly set DPLL to highest and multiplier to x128, still it doesn't work as it should. Have you tried playing that 384KHz file you mentioned moving #3 at SW2 to Mono? I don't think it is about a specific set up as I don't get this problem when using an Arduino micro controller. It makes no difference if I configure for mono or stereo. I have no issues playing anything up to 384Khz. As I said - if you want start your own thread and post some pics etc. It is probably something simple.

Hi Leif,
this firmware update is all about remapped mode and stereo/mono use with PCM/DSD - where you use a B3 like you would a B3SE. That is certain inputs are internally mapped for stereo/mono use only.
It has no bearing at all on any other mode - especially not multi-channel or even any direct input mode (where you actually wire all inputs)
