Hello to all !
I have a very wonderful and varied collection of music on my pc in different formats(mp3, flac, wav ,wma) and at different sample rates but not higher than 192k.Did not yet used DSD format because my setup(mooded m-audio transit with pcm1794) does not support it. For a while I am thinking to build a usb dac with diy kits which are currently available on the market.
So for the dac for sure I will go with TP B3SE because I use a stereo setup and from what I read thru forums/posts it`s the best around here... Now my problem is choosing which other boards do I have to acquire for a full complete usb dac.
1. for usb to i2s I saw two interesant projects like amanero and waveIO but from these two only amanero manages dsd and 32 bit/384khz.Is there such a big difference between the two since my most listening will be done at 16bit/44.1khz? I saw that the waveIO has the best quotes but I was considering to buy amanero. What do you guys say about this? 2.the other issue is that if I will limit myself at 24bit/192khz i2s, I could also buy ian fifo and I wil stuck also with waveIO right? So which way should I go and what do I have to buy :D

From the crop of what is currently available my choice would be the amanero board. I have one, and it works very well up to 384Khz.
Of course I am working on one - but it is still in prototype/design phase.
Cheers! Russ

ok...finally the amanero arrived, very compact board and tiny also.didn`t tested it yet with the burr brown Now I am curios if I could use U.FL connectors on the output for the connection with the buffalo and also, if I order for the buffalo the already mentioned connectors they come soldered? it would be great... is the b3se with all the shunt regulators on stock? do you have any idea how much will the shipping and VAT would be to italy ? thinking to make an order these days...the hands are itching me :D thanks Edited by user Tuesday, April 9, 2013 6:19:30 PM(UTC)

They do not come pre-soldered, but I could be talked into doing it for a small fee. Originally Posted by: schultzsch is the b3se with all the shunt regulators on stock?
Yes, they are in stock. Originally Posted by: schultzsch do you have any idea how much will the shipping and VAT would be to italy ?
You can calculate the exact shipping fee on the web site.

can I mount the same connectors on the amanero too? any impedance missmatch? on the sheet received with amanero they do mention about 47 ohm but it`s not mentioned as output impedance, it`s mentioned as value only on the description of each data(i2s/dsd) pin.did a closer lookup at the board and I saw in series with above mentioned pins a resistor of 47ohm I`m a little bit confused

I don't think the Amanero supports u.fl connectors.
