Hi,

I have been eyeing the Buffalo IIISE Dac for a while and am about to order. Since I live in the netherlands i want to make sure I order the right parts right away.

To make this work i need:

Buffalo-IIISE 2-Channel DAC
(1) Buffalo-IIISE 2-Channel DAC Module (Assembled and Tested)
(1) AVCC Dual Shunt Regulator Module (Assembled and Tested)
(2) Trident 3.3V Shunt Regulator Module (Assembled and Tested)
(1) Trident 1.2V Shunt Regulator Module (Assembled and Tested)

S/PDIF (CS8416) Receiver/MUX Module(Assembled and Tested)

Low Current Dual Power Supply Kit

TOSLINK Optical Input Module Kit

Anything else?

You will also need an output stage (I-V conversion) like the Legato or Ivy-III and a bipolar power supply for that module like a Placid HDBP or LCBPS, as well as transformers to suit both power supplies. The LCDPS will be great for powering the Buffalo with one side and the Toslink module with the other, but you will still need a bipolar power supply for the output stage.
TPA sells transformers, but you could easily source them in the EU and save on shipping weight.

One last thing - I'm not that familiar with the SE version of the BIII, its possible you might not need the S/PDIf Mux module if Toslink is your only source - I think there is way to go straight to the Buffalo, but hopefully someone else will chime in with a solid answer on that.

You do not need the 4:1 MUX module.

If you want 2 optical inputs, you can set one for consumer-level output and and other for TTL-level output (resistors in the Toslink module kits allow for this).

You then wire the consumer-level module to the S/PDIF input on the Buffalo, and the TTL-level module to the D1 input. You can then switch between them with the Buffalo's IP_S pads, using a simple toggle switch (any kind you like).

It's possible to go without one, but performance will suffer greatly.
