Hello,

I just ordered an OPUS dac. I chose it for simplicity since it does not need output stage. However, I was thinking it might be best to get the IVY III for a) I might upgrade to Buffalo III multi channel once available and IVY III can be used and b) Seems from forum it may be best to use the IVY III.

Do you think COD dac might be better since it's current output and then to IVY III. This on the fact that OPUS converts to Voltage and then the IVY III takes it from there (seems redundant).

My use is eventually for active x-over, stereo, 3-way configuration which begs the next question: I plan to use USBStreamer or exU2I multichannel IS2 to either 3 OPUS or CODs. Might it be better to wait for Buffalo III multichannel for this use or would you expect either the 3 OPUS or CODs to be the better option?

Thanks in advance for your input!!

by the way, I have a pending order and I may like to make adjustment to order based on your reply.

Thank you,
Doug

The IVY has separate inputs for the Opus. It uses the V_IN (voltage input) pads, and acts as a differential filter/buffer, rather than an I/V stage.

So, either DAC will work well with IVY. If you want to go simple, just use the Opus.

Whether Opus or COD sounds better, that's pretty subjective. I will let others chime in...
