From the integration guide: Quote:Unlike the Buffalo III, it does not expose all 8 digital inputs of the ES9018 chip. Instead (like the Buffalo II board) it has an on-board comparator. So there is no need for level conversion like the Single S/PDIF Level Converter. - To which one of the ES9018 inputs is the consumer level SPDIF connected?
- Same question for D1 for the TTL level spdif.
I'm asking this because I'd like to figure out how to switch inputs using an external I2C controller. When using the BIII + sidecar the sidecar switches from spdif to pcm/dsd. Thus blocking the spdif signals to the chip. How can this be achieved with the BIII-SE? |

B-III SE handles all this routing on the board. No more need for sidecar with this DAC. :)
The IP_S header has the switch signal pulled high (with a weak pull-up resistor) , all you need to do is pull that signal low with your controller.
Keep IP_S High and the DAC D1 input is fed by the comparator (which converts the consumer SPDIF to TTL) - BCK and the other inputs are pulled to GND.
Pull IP_S Low and the DAC BCK - D1 and the other appropriate inputs are fed via the header. So if you want to feed TTL level SPDIF to D1 at that point instead of PCM/DSD you can. most people will be applying PCM/DSD :)

The spdif input on the DAC board is for consumer level spdif. The TOSLINK optical input module, does it output TTL level or consumer level? |

The TORX module output is TTL unless you use a voltage divider. The newest revision of the TORX module has positions for resistors if you wish to add the voltage divider.
