I will shortly be receiving my Amanero USB Interface which does USB I2S/DSD and was planning to add this module to my existing SPDIF connection to the original Buffalo 24.
I am planning to try in the first instance a simple 3 position 4 pole switch to get the right connections to the right terminals positioned such as to minimise I2S wiring.
I understand the issues around the SPDIF switch to enable I2S input but am somewhat confused about the the Dip Switch (part of the 4 bit dipswitch assembly). How these Dip switches connect to the DAC Chip is not immediately apparent from the circuit diagram but presumably set the software in the chip? I presume that to input I2S/DSD to the DAC, Pin 1 needs to be set to the Low (-) position? If so, is there any easy way that this switch can be wired to the exterior of the enclosure housing the DAC?
Also would it be correct to say that the DAC will autodetect the presence of a DSD signal and so no hardware mods or software configuration of the DAC chip is necessary?
Any help would be appreciated.
