Just a few quick questions regarding the buffalo-iii.. more confirmations than anything, and questions regarding trouble shooting. 1/ For a directly wired TTL PCM source, all the dip switches turned to OFF except SW2 number 5 ON, should be OK right? 2/ To measure if the tridents are working, is it sufficient to just measure voltage between gnd/in and gnd/out, or is there a more thorough/suggested way of testing? Ive just placed a buffalo-iii board into a setup where a buffalo-ii was working fine. But unfortunately I'm getting no sound out. I've adjusted the placid to ensure its supplying (and shunting) enough current, and set it to 5.25V. Stuck a jumper on the volume control pins to ensure it isn't muted. Placed 0ohm resistors on J1 to J12 spots, and on the JPCM1 to JPCM3 spots. Placed the correct R4 values on the tridents (they are old V1.1 boards). And I've double checked the ribbon cable setup, and measured to ensure a signal can reach either end of the cable. So I think I got it all covered setup wise. It isn't at my place, so it'll be a few days till I look at the setup again, but I obviously plan to measure all the voltages I can to see if theres a fault somewhere. But any other suggestions would be welcome. Also of concern is that the VDD trident seems to occasionally not turn on at all. I did resolder all the connector points and R4 joints again incase it was a bad joint. When the DAC is turned on, most of the time it will have LEDs on the VDD trident but sometimes there will be none at all. Does it sound like it could be a faulty trident? It's all good. Got a chance to look at it today and noticed my mistake (too embarrassed to mention what I did wrong!). It's all up and singing now, and sounding good. Infact I'm surprised at how different the b3 sounds compared to the b2! Thanks for the great work Russ and Brian.
