Hi,
I am a newbie and this is my second time pursuing a DIY project. I am building my B3 DAC and having a hard time adjusting my Placid HD BP. Since it's mirror image of each other, it can be very confusing with my limited knowledge about electronics :). I get all the LED lit up brightly and the heat sink get hot in no time. I read the manual at least fifteen times and still feel like I am walking in the dark. If you guys can help pointing me in the right direction, I would really appreciate very much. I also attach a picture with label point A,B,C,D,E, F and G for reference. I have the Placid HD BP connect to 15V transformer, from the top down the order of color wire from the transformer are: Red wire, black wire, yellow wire and orange wire. Several questions:
1. When manual says, measure check point CCS - to CCS +, TPshunt- and TPshunt + ...., do I put the black lead at CCS-/POINT B or TPshunt-/POINT D and red lead at CCS+/POINT A or TPshunt +/ POINT C respectively OR do put the black lead at ground point POINT E?
2. How do you adjust current and voltage using the VR1 and VR2 (left and right)?
3. Here are some values that I measured:
The input voltage at Placid HD (from transformer): 15.9V DC, ~32V AC mode
Voltage between TP-VIN + and TP-VIN-: 45V DC, ~90V AC
Voltage between TP-CCS + and TP-CCS-: 45V DC, ~90V AC
Voltage between Vref + and Vref-: 7.7v (between POINT F and POINT G)
Voltage between TPshunt + and TPshunt -: 28.1V (black lead at TPshunt - POINT D and red lead at TPShunt + POINT C)
Voltage between TPout + and TP out - : 28.1v
Picture can be seen from this link
Placid HD BP for reference I am sure I measure at the wrong points so it'll be great if you guys can help me out. Thank you for all your help, guys.
Justin.
