Hi,

I was just looking at the frequncey response of the Opus with my Audio analyser and I noticed that it dropped off at around 12khz with 44.1khz 16bit audio.

I initialy thought this may be due to frame select and word length but on further investigation I believe its due to filters

I now have the default switch settings apart from:

OSR low
FSEL low

I am now getting full 20khz response.

Ift may be worth changing the manual - surprised no-one else has noticed :)

Regards

Joe

Yes you do have to change the filters depending on the sample frequency. :) The defaults are the hardware defaults.

I would of thought the vast majority of users will be inputing 44.1/16 in to their Opus and using default switch settings,

This would result in the vast majority of users not hearing any audio at 13khz and above, without an audio analyser it would be hard for them to determine which filter they should be using (I hope I am not missing soemthing here).

setting:
OSR low
FSEL low

gives a very flat response (flatter than any other DAC i have measured).

What I am saying is that the switch defaults are the defaults of the DAC chip itself. You will have to take that decision up with Wolfson. ;)

In any case this is why we always recommend that people read and understand the datasheet with regard to those settings.

I am glad you posted your findings.
